Lago Ranco is a town in Ranco Province, Los Ríos Region, Chile. It covers 1,763.3 sq km (680.8 sq mi) and has a population of 12,000 people (2012 estimate). The town was named after the lake of the same name in the area.
Lago Ranco was established only in the 20th century. It dates to 1937, when an auction was carried out of public lands in the area. This led to the formal establishment of the commune in 1941.
The weather in Lago Ranco can be described as Mediterranean. Hottest month is January while coldest July. The mean temperature hovers between 0°C and 20°C. The main economic activity here include farming, forestry and tourism.
