San Fernando is the capital of Colchagua Province, in the O'Higgins Region of Central Chile. It is located in the northern edge of the Colchagua Valley, 339 m (1,112 ft) above sea level.
San Fernando lies at the heart of the Chilean agricultural region. It is famous for producing the San Fernando brand of Chilean wine. Other products of the area include wheat, rice, legumes and fresh fruits.
