Ski Portillo is the oldest ski resort in South America. It is located in the Andes mountains, near the town of Los Andes, in Chile, about 160 km (100 mi) from the capital Santiago.

Ski Portillo, often called simply Portillo, is located at an elevation of 3,000 m (10,000 ft) above sea level. Its ski slopes are as high as 3,270 m (10,900 ft), providing experienced skiers exhilarating skiing opportunities. Among the ski challenges at Portillo include 50-degree descents, heli-skiing and night skiing.

The ski resort of Portillo was first opened in 1949. A few massive avalanches destroyed its ski lifts in 1965, but these were rebuilt in time for the town to host the World Ski Championships in 1966. Portillo continues to be one of the major ski resorts in South America today.
