8 Spruce Street is a 76-story skyscraper in Manhattan, New York City. It is also called New York by Gehry, after the famous architect who designed it, Frank Gehry, and was also originally known as Beekman Tower. The skyscraper is located to the south of City Hall Plaza, near Brooklyn Bridge.
Construction of 8 Spruce Street began in 2006. It was completed at the end of 2010, and opened in February, 2011. The tower is 876 ft (267 m) tall, making it one of the tallest residential towers in the western hemisphere, about the same height at Aqua in Chicago.
