It was founded in 1831 as an alternative to Columbia University.
With a resident body of 12,500, and a student body of 50,000, New York University is the 7th largest university as well as the largest private university in the United States. Its campus covers several blocks around Washington Square in Greenwich Village. In addition, it has overseas facilities in London, Paris, Florence, Prague, Madrid, Berlin, Accra, Shanghai, Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv. It also has a campus in Singapore, and in the process of opening one in Washington, D.C and Abu Dhabi.
How to reach NYU
Take the A, B, C, D, E, F or V train to the West 4th Street subway station. From there, walk east on Washington Square South to the various schools of NYU.
