Vietnam Veterans Plaza is a park created to commemorate the residents of New York who fought in the Vietnam war, those who have lost their lives, as well as those who were still missing. The centrepiece of the plaza is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This memorial is made of glass and granite. Excerpts from letters written by the Vietnam veterans and their loved ones are etched onto the wall, which is formed in blocks.

In addition to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Plaza also includes the Walk of Honor. This is a pathway that bears the names of all the residents of New York City who lost their lives in the Vietnam war.
