The Historic Centre of Telč celebrated the town in southern Moravia, Czech Republic, which was founded in the 13th century as a royal water fort. Telč was located at the crossroad of trade routes between Bohemia, Moravia and Austria.
Today Telč has many well-preserved houses, rebuilt after a fire destroyed the original wooden houses in the late 14th century. One of the main attractions of Telč is its imposing Gothic castle, reconstructed in the High Gothic style in the late 15th century. During the reconstruction a new gate tower was built.

In the 16th century the Castle of Telč underwent further modification when nobleman Zachariáš of Hradec renovated it to the Renaissance style. He redid the vault of the ground floor, decorated the façade with sgraffito, and decorated the living quarters with stucco ornamentation as well as trompe l'œil paintings and chiaroscuro.
The Historic Centre of Telč was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 16th session of the World Heritage Committee which was held in Santa Fe, United States, on 7-14 December, 1992.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
