Herning is a Danish town in the Midtjylland region, in central Jutland, Denmark. It has a population of 46,000 (2011 estimate). The town was created in the early 19th century when the heath was reclaimed for farmland. Later on, the railway line was built through the town, helping it to grow further. Other industries came to Herning, among them, textile weaving.
Today Herning has diversified its economy. It is the location of Messecenter Herning, the biggest exhibition center in Scandinavia, and hosts numerous trade fairs. The town also has a number of tourist attractions which I will list below.
