Bad Griesbach is a small town in the district of Passau in Bavaria, Germany. Known in full as Bad Griesbach im Rottal, it covers 70.18 sq km (27.1 sq mi) and has a population of around 8,400 people.
Originally known simply as Griesbach, the town had the "Bad" affixed to its name after its hot springs were discovered in 1972. Going back to 1076, it was first mentioned as Burg Griesbach. The "Burg" denotes a fortress that was destroyed by the army from Palatinate in 1504.
