Oberaula is a small town in the district of Schwalm-Eder-Kreis, in the administrative region of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. The town covers 43.95 sq km (16.97 sq mi) and has a population of 3,200 people (2012 estimate). It is located in the Aula River Valley, and includes the Knüllgebirge, a range of low mountains.

Oberaula traces its beginnings to AD 856. Its name means "place of a moist river floodplain". The earliest community here was mentioned in AD 1160.

Oberaula is located to the northeast of Frankfurt am Main. From Frankfurt, take Autobahn 5 until you arrive there.
