Lake Brienz (Brienzersee) is a lake in Bern canton, Switzerland measuring 14 km long and 3 km wide. It is the first lake on the River Aare, just before Lake Thun. Covering 29.8 sq km, Lake Brienz has a catchment area of 1,127 sq km. It is located 564 m above sea level, and has a maximum depth of 260 m.
Lake Brienz is surrounded by majestic peaks, with the Alps on the southern side of the lake. Compared to Lake Thun, Lake Brienz is less developed. So you will find fewer watersports facilities here. There are however a number of places where you can visit by bicycle or by boat.
