Saint-Pierre-de-Clages is a small village of 600 inhabitants in Valais canton, Switzerland. The village is within the municipality of Chamoson. It is located on the southern slopes of the Rhône valley, where grapevines are extensively grown.
Saint-Pierre-de-Clages is known in Switzerland as a book town. It holds an annual literary festival bringing authors and readers from all over the country. The village itself has a number of attractions including a stone basilica in the Romanesque style. Originally part of a Benedictine priory, it has a plain rib-vaulted interior providing a sense of austerity from its stonework. The windows are fitted with stained glass from 1948.
