Vissoie is a small village in the Anniviers valley, in Sierre district, Valais canton, Switzerland. The village surrounded by mountains is part of the municipality of Anniviers, which was formed on 1 January, 2009, merging Vissoie with Ayer, Chandolin, Grimentz, Saint Jean and Saint-Luc.
Vissoie covers 1.5 sq km (0.58 sq mi) and has a populatio9n of less than 400 people. The majority of the population speak French, though Portuguese is surprisingly the second most common language here. Most of the people here are Roman Catholics, with the rest mainly belonging to the Swiss Reformed Church.
