Bridport is a market town near the coast in Dorset, England. It lies on the River Brit, where it meets the river Asker and Simene. The town has a population of around 13,000 people.
Bridport is located on the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. Also in the vicinity is Chesil Beach, one of the major shingle beaches in the country.
The town of Bridport dates back to at least the 13th century, when its parish church of St Mary was founded. The town established itself as a fishing harbor as well as a center for rope making. Today it is a small quiet town. In 2006 the West Dorset district which it is located was named the 10th best place to live in the UK, according to Channel 4.
