This is my write up regarding my visit to Kampachi Japanese Restaurant on 27 June 2015. On this visit, I noticed that there was a much smaller selection of items than before. Previously, the food is spread across two sections, with the desserts arrayed at the annex. On this visit, however, the dessert items were brought over to the main section of the restaurant.
Lunch starts at 12:00 noon, but we only arrived at 12:30 pm. I had expected the restaurant to be full by then, but was surprised that it was almost empty. In fact, I was able to take a shot of the sushi section without a single diner.

As we were led to our table, I also noticed that a whole section of the restaurant was empty on that day. I do not know whether the decline in numbers was the result of the increase in price, or the reduction in selection. I suppose it could be the combination of both. As usual, we made a table reservation a few days before coming. I saw only a total of 6-7 reservations for lunch that day. Perhaps knowing that the number of reservations is low, the restaurant decided to prepare less food? That's my speculation.
At the end of the meal, I am pleasantly surprised that there is a 15% discount on our bill. It worked out to be RM25.22. With a 10% service charge and 6% GST, we paid RM160.60 for this meal for two. That price is somewhat the same to how much we usually pay for a meal here. I am not sure why there is this 15% discount. Is it due to the smaller selection of items offered? Perhaps, but again I am speculating. Nevertheless, this being a buffet, I ate my fill for the day, though I did have to take items which I would often not have considered, when the buffet had a wider choice.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
