Jalan Yap Kwan Seng is a road in the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur. It was named after the last Kapitan Cina, or Chinese headman, of Kuala Lumpur. Yap Kwan Seng (1846-1902) was born in China of Hakka descent. He arrived in Malaya at the age of 18 and started off as a common labourer in the tin mines in Seremban. From there he moved to Selangor in 1870.
Jalan Yap Kwan Seng runs from the intersection with Jalan Ampang and Jalan P Ramlee, in front of the Petronas Twin Towers, to Jalan Tun Razak. Among the buildings along the road includes Menara Ambank and the Australian High Commission. Jelita Court apartment is located near the junction with Jalan Tun Razak.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
