Jalan Sungai PinangJalan Sungai Pinang (13 December 2012)

Jalan Sungai Pinang, formerly Sungai Pinang Road, is a major road in George Town, Penang. Named after the name river flowing through the city, the road once marked the southern portion of the city. Since then urbanisation has spilled south beyond Sungai Pinang Road.

Jalan Sungai Pinang starts at the intersection with Perak Road and Jalan P. Ramlee. Apart from the curve as it approaches the Perak Road intersection, Sungai Pinang is almost arrow straight. The road traditionally ends at the junction with Jelutong Main Road, but since the early 1990s has been extended. With reclamation pushing the shoreline outward, Jalan Sungai Pinang has been continued. It now ends at Bandar Sri Pinang.

Jalan Sungai Pinang intersects the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway at a major interchange. It also forms intersections with Lebuh Sungai Pinang 1 and Jelutong Main Road, and a major junction with Patani Road.

A host of minor roads branches off from Jalan Sungai Pinang, among them Lengkok Sungai Pinang, Lintang Kampung Rawa 3, Lintang Kampung Rawa 2, Lintang Kampung Rawa 1, River Road, Jalan Haji Hashim Imam, Solok Sungai Pinang, Jalan Osman bin Kadir Lit, Jalan Trusan and Jalan Che Rose, among others.
