George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was built in the late 19th century and renovated in the 1910s. It is one of the elite Chinese shophouses along Acheen Street, similar to
Chiat Cheong at No. 145.
25, Acheen Street, Penang (15 September 2012)

25 Acheen Street used to be the premises of Swee Hock Chan, the company belonging to Goh Say Eng (Wu Shi-rong), who along with Ng Kim Kheng (Huang Jin-qing), was among the most ardent followers of Sun Yat Sen and his movement. So faithful was he to the cause that he spent away much of his own family fortune to support the revolution.
The Penang Philomatic Union used it as a venue in 1932, after it moved from the
Li Teik Seah building at 152 Carnarvon Street, and before it relocated to Macalister Road. At the same time it also served as the premises for the Chung Ling High School Alumni Association.
