72, 70 & 68 Beach Street

72, 70 & 68 Beach Street (GPS: 5.41639, 100.3408) are three heritage shophouses facing Beach Street in George Town, Penang. Located at the entrance to Che Em Lane, these are one of the earliest three-storey shophouses in Penang.

72, 70 & 68 Beach Street date from the mid 19th century, and have been added and modified through the centuries. In the early part of the 20th century, they were resurfaced with Shanghai plaster, though they retain the Chinese gables from their original design. The buildings are now presently (Oct 2012) occupied from left to right by Swee Hin Chan Co, Mani Textiles and Kim Thai Kedai Kopi.
