Forts and Castles, Volta, Greater Accra, Central and Western Regions is a collective term adopted by in referencing the European-style fortifications and outposts in modern-day Ghana. The term specifically applies to 11 ensembles including the following:
  1. Elmina Castle, Elmina

  2. Fort Saint Antony, Axim
  3. English Fort (Fort Vrendenburg), Komenda
  4. Fort Metal Cross, Dixcove
  5. Fort San Sebastian, Shama
  6. Fort Batenstein, Butri
  7. Fort St. Jago (Fort Conraadsburg), Elmina
  8. Fort Amsterdam, Abandze
  9. Fort Lijdzaamheid ('Patience'), Apam
  10. Cape Coast Castle, Cape Coast
  11. Fort Good Hope (Fort Goedehoop), Senya Beraku
The Forts and Castles, Volta, Greater Accra, Central and Western Regions were inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 3rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Cairo and Luxor, on 22-26 October, 1979.
