Inagua is a district of the Bahamas comprising two main islands, Great Inagua and Little Inagua. Collectively, they cover 1,679 sq km (648 sq mi) and has a population of around a thousand people.

Great Inagua is the third largest island in The Bahamas. It covers 1,544 sq km (596 sq mi) and measures 90 km by 30 km. Its highest point is East Hill, at 33 m (108 ft). It also has a number of lakes, the biggest being Lake Windsor, also known as Lake Rosa, which is 19 km long. It is really a lagoon, as it opens to the sea in the west.

The principal town in Inagua is Matthew Town, located on the southwestern part of Great Inagua island. The town is a major producer of salt. At the center of Great Inagua is the Inagua National Park, a bird sanctuary with a high density of migrating and resident birds. Among these include thousands of West Indian Flamingos, Bahama Parrot, Bahama woodstar hummingbird, and others.

The island of Little Inagua is on the northeastern part of Inagua, and is probably a continuation of a mountain range that has partly submerged. This island covers 78 sq km (30 sq mi). It is uninhabited for now, but has a resident population of feral donkeys and goats. The island is protected by coral reefs preventing boats from getting too close.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
