Drummondville is a city in the Centre-du-Québec Region, in Quebec. It covers 246.79 sq km (95.29 sq mi) and has a population of 72,000 people (2012 estimate). The city is 365 m (1,198 ft) above sea level on the Saint-François River, to the northeast of Montreal.
Drummondville was founded by British army officer Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick George Heriot to strengthen British position on the Saint-François River during the War of 1812 against the Americans. It was named after Sir Gordon Drummond, the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada between 1813 and 1816.
Despite its British beginnings, the town is today predominantly French, being part of Quebec. Some 95% of its population regard French as their mother tongue, with only 1% having English as the mother tongue.

From Montreal, take Autoroute 20 which continues as Autoroute 55 heading east to reach Drummond.
