Prince George is a city in British Columbia, Canada. Though geographically located on the central part of the province, it is regarded as the largest city in northern British Columbia. Prince George spans 318.26 sq km (122.88 sq mi) and has a population of 72,000 people (2012 estimate).
Prince George is located at the confluence of the Fraser River and the Nechako River. It was founded in 1807 as the fur trading post of Fort George, named in honor of King George III. For much of the 19th century, Fort George remained an isolated outpost while other settlements prospered. It only saw rapid development in the early 20th century, when the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway line was built to pass near it.
The city of Prince George was developed in 1914 out of the four communities of Fort George. It was probably named after Prince George, the Duke of Kent, who was the fourth son of King George V.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
