Stratford is a city on the Avon River in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Both the city and the river were named after the famous place in Warwickshire, England. It spans over 26.95 sq km (10.41 sq mi) and has a population of 31,000 people (2012 estimate).
Stratford was established as a railway junction. It became the seat of Perth County in 1850 and was incorporated as a town in 1859. Stratford was reincorporated as a city in 1886. Since 1953, the town has hosted the annual Stratford Shakespeare Festival, drawing celebrities from both sides of the Atlantic.

From Toronto, take Highway 401 until Exit 222, then continue northwest on Foldens Line following which 37 Line until you reach Stratford.
