Lonquimay is a town in Malleco Province, Araucanía Region, Chile. The town is just to the west of the Argentinian border, at an elevation of 842 m (2,762 ft). It covers 3,914.2 sq km (1,511,3 sq mi) and has a population of 11,000 people (2012 estimate).

An abandoned railway project to link Chile and Argentina through the Andes mountains was revived in 2005. When completed, it will include the longest tunnel in Chile, measuring 4.56 km (4,990 yard). The railway line will link Lonquimay in Chile with Zapala in Argentina.

Within the vicinity of Lonquimay town is the Lonquimay volcano, a stratovolcano standing at a height of 2,865 m (9,400 ft). The volcano is to the southeast of Tolhuaca volcano. within the Malalcahuello-Nalcas protected area.
