photo licensing Sangay National Park is a picturesque national park in Ecuador. It is located in the Morona Santiago, Chimborazo and Tungurahua provinces, covering an area of 271925 hectares. The geographical features of Sangay National Park covers a wide spectrum from tropical rainforest right up to snowcapped peaks.

Within Sangay National Park is a diverse range of ecosystems. There are glaciers as well as two active volcanoes within the park. The place is home to many rare species of wildlife and plants. Among the rare animals found here include the mountain tapirs and the spectacled bears.

Sangay National Park was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 7th session of the World Heritage Committee which met in Florence, Italy, on 5-9 December, 1983.
