Auburn is a city on the eastern part of Alabama. It is the main city of the Auburn-Opelika Metropolitan Area. Auburn is a college town and home to Auburn University, which has an enrollment of over 25,000. The city itself was founded when the area was opened to settlement in 1832, with the first settlers arriving in the winter of 1836.
One of the biggest attractions in Auburn is the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, located within the campus of the University of Auburn. Opened in 2003, it is one of the best fine arts museums in Alabama.

The most practical way to reach Auburn is by car. You can take interstate highway 85 from Atlanta and Montgomery. US Highway 29 and 280 also provide access to Auburn. If you are arriving at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, you can take the Express85 bus (phone: 1 888 238 7738) to Auburn.
Within downtown Auburn, it is possible to explore on foot. A car or a bicycle are faster ways to get around.
