Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art is an art museum located within the campus of Auburn University, in Auburn, Alabama. Opened in 2003, it is the only university art museum in Alabama. The museum comprises six exhibition galleries with 40,000 sq ft of exhibition space. It also has an auditorium, a cafe, and a museum shop. The museum is located on a 7-acre plot that includes a lake.
The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art was name after the wife of Albert Smith, an alumnus of Auburn University who graduated in 1947. He donated $3 million to fund the building of the museum as a gift to his wife, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Most of the museum's collection focuses on 19th and 20th century American and European art. It has works by Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalí, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, among others.
