Centennial is a city in Arapahoe County, Colorado. It covers 27.9 sq mi (72 sq km) and has a population of 101,000 (2011 estimate). The city is located at an elevation of 5,830 ft (1,777 m). It is the 10th biggest city in Colorado.

By any standard, Centennial is one of the youngest cities in the United States. It was only incorporated on 7 February, 2001, created for parts of unincorporated Arapahoe County. The residents of the area voted by a 77% for incorporation, based on a promise that city taxes will be kept at 1%. With a population of 100,000, it was the largest incorporation of a city in US history. Since it is so new, many people still are not aware of its existence, and mailing addresses still show Aurora, Englewood and Littleton, areas that are now part of Centennial.

Centennial was named after the nickname for Colorado, which is Centennial State, because it was admitted into the United States in 1876, the centennial year of the US Declaration of Independence.

Centennial is located to the southeast of Denver. It is part of the Denver metropolitan area. The city borders on Arapahoe County Airport, which has since been renamed the Centennial Airport (APA). The airport is bordered on three sides by the city of Centennial.

Visiting Centennial, Colorado

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
