Covington is the fifth most populous city in Kentucky. Covering 13.7 sq mi (35.4 sq km), it has a population of 41,000 people (2011 estimate). Located at the confluence of the Ohio and Licking rivers in northern Kentucky, it is one of the two county seats of Kenton County and is within the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky metropolitan area.

Covington experiences a mix of humid continental and humid subtropical climates. The warmest month here is July, when the average high temperature reaches 87°F (31°C). Coldest month is January, when the average low temperature drops to 23°F (-5°C). May receives the most rain, at 4.5 in (114 mm).

Covington was established in 1814 when a group of men developed the area west of Licking River. It grew rapidly in the 19th century, but the growth petered out during the Great Depression. Visiting Covington

Interstate 71/75 passes through Covington as it heads north towards Cincinnati. You can also fly to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) or the Port Columbus International Airport (CMH) to reach Covington.

    A Roman Catholic minor basilica constructed in 1894, with the world's largest church stained-glass window.

  2. John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
    Bridge across the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Covington. When completed in 1866, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 ft (322 m).

  3. Mother of God Parish
    Parish church of the Roman Catholic diocese of Covington.

  4. Trinity Episcopal Church
    Historic church founded in 1842.
