Dillon is a small city in southwestern Montana. Covering 1.6 sq mi (4.2 sq km), Dillon has a population of 3,700 people (2011 estimate). The city serves as county seat for Beaverhead County. It is located high up at 5,240 ft (1,560 m) above sea level, just 40 miles (64 km) to the east of the Continental Divide.

Dillon experiences a semi-arid climate. Summers here are hot and wet while winters are cold and dry. The hottest month is July, when the average high temperature rises to 83.5°F (28.6°C). Coldest month is January, when the average low temperature drops to 13.5°F (-10.3°C). Dillon receives the most rain in May, at 2.25 in (57.2 mm).

Dillon is served by Interstate 15 which links the city with Butte in the north and Idaho Falls in the south.
