Dothan is a small city in Alabama, USA. The seat of Houston County, it has a population of around 65,000. The city is just 20 miles (32 km) to the west of the border with Georgia, and 18 miles (29km) north of Florida.
Dothan is a major center for the production of peanut crops in the United States. One-fourth of all peanuts grown in the country is processed in the city, earning it the title of "Peanut Capital of the World".
The city of Dothan was founded in the early 1830's. The original settlement of some nine white families was known as Poplar Head. It was named Dothan when the city was incorporated on 11 November, 1885, with the name plucked from the Book of Genesis 37:17.
Dothan experiences a humid subtropical climate. The warmest months are June to August, with average high temperatures reading 93°F (34°C). The coldest months are December and January, with the average low temperature falling to 36°F (3°C).

By Road
To drive to Dothan, take US Highways 231, 431 and 84 which all intersect in Dothan. There aren't any interstate highways passing near Dothan.
