Rodeo Drive is a famous shopping street in Beverly Hills, California.
Although Rodeo Drive may refer to North Rodeo Drive (between West Sunset Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard) and South Rodeo Drive (Wilshire Boulevard to Beverwil Drive), the famous stretch of upscale shopping is on North Rodeo Drive, between S. Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard. This is where you find all the expensive and luxury stores represented. To name them all is to practically name a who's who of luxury brands.
The name Rodeo Drive comes from El Rancho Rodeo de las Aguas, meaning "ranch of the gathering of waters". This is the name of the area that includes present-day Beverly Hills.
The development of Rodeo Drive came about when property investor Burton E. Green bought the area in 1906. Together with other investors, they developed the land on the main street, which is called Rodeo Drive.
The exclusive shopping precinct of Rodeo Drive only came about in the 1970s, when upscale brands start to open outlets here. Eventually every luxury retailer regarded having a Rodeo Drive address a necessity for having "arrived", helping the street become a tourist attraction in the process.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
