75½ Bedford Street is said to be the narrowest house in New York City. It is located in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, built over a passageway. As such, it is a mere nine-and-one-half feet wide. Squeezed between Nos. 74 and 75, it was given the reasonable address of 75½. Makes senses, doesn't it?

The house was built in 1893, and rises to three storeys in height. Quite a number of famous people have lived here, including the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay and the actor John Barrymore (grandfather of actress Drew), and even Cary Grant.

In order that people know how important this house happens to be, there is now a red plaque on its wall.

How to reach 75½ Bedford Street

Take the 1 train to Christopher Street/Sheridan Square subway station. Then walk south along 7th Avenue South until you reach the intersection with Bedford Street. Turn right, walk north along Bedford Street and you will come upon 75½ Bedford Street on your left.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
