Carnegie Hall is a famous concert venue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is located at 881 Seventh Avenue, on the east side of the avenue between West 56th Street and west 57th Street.

Carnegie Hall was built by Andrew Carnegie, often referred to as the second richest man in history after John D. Rockefeller. It was designed by architect William Burnet Tuthill. It was one of the last large buildings in New York to be built entirely of masonry, without a steel frame. However a steel frame was erected around some parts of the building later, when additions were made to the building.

Within Carnegie Hall are three performance spaces. The main auditorium, also called the Isaac Stern Auditorium, has a seating capacity of 2,804 on five levels. It is the biggest of several concert calls bearing the Carnegie name, including the 420-seat Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, West Virginia, the 1928-seat Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the 1022-seat Carnegie Music Hall also in Pittsburgh, and the 540-seat Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline, Scotland.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
