The Church of the Ascension

The Church of the Ascension is an Episcopal Church of the Diocese of New York. It is located along Fifth Avenue, with its address on W 11th Street.

The Church of the Ascension was built in the English Gothic Revival style in 1841. The architect was Richard Upjohn, who also designed the Trinity Church. The altar relief was executed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Above it is a mural entitled The Ascension by John La Farge, who also designed the stained glass.
