City Hall of New York City is located in City Hall Park in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Built in 1811, it is the oldest City Hall in the United States that is still being used for its original functions. The City Hall has the office of the Mayor of New York City and the chambers of the New York City Council.
A short distance from City Hall is the Manhattan Municipal Building, which houses the office of the thirteen municipal agencies of the city.

The present City Hall is today a National Historic Landmark, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Both its exterior and interior were also designated as New York City landmarks in 1966 and 1976 respectively.
The present City Hall building was designed by the architectural firm of Mangin and McComb. Since then, it has undergone a number of alternations in 1860, 1898, 1903, 1907, 1912, 1915, 1917, 1956 and 1998. The building is in the French Renaissance style while the interior was done in the American Georgian style. Inside the building is the Governor's room, which has hosted receptions for famous people including the Marquis de Lafayette and Albert Einstein.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
