The Condé Nast Building, or officially 4 Times Square, is a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is located on Broadway, between 42nd and 43rd Streets. The building stands at a height of 809 feet (247 meters). It is the 12th tallest skyscraper in New York City, and the 41st tallest in the United States. An antenna mounted to the top brings its height to 1,143 feet (348 meters), making it the third tallest structure in New York City after the Empire State Building and the Bank of America Tower.

The Condé Nast Building has 1.6 million square feet (149,000 square meters) of floor space. When it was built, there was concern on what the impact of its size will have to Times Square. Nonetheless, the huge building found ready occupants when it was completed in 1995.

4 Times Square is one of the most environmentally friendly skyscrapers in the United States. Gas-fired absorption chillders, high-performing insulating and shading curtain wall help to keep the cost of heating and cooling down. Its air-delivery system also provides the building 50% more fresh air than required by New York City Building Code.

Perhaps the most visible parts of the Condé Nast Building is the NASDAQ MarketSite, a seven-storey cylindrical tower on the northwest corner of the building. It is mounted with an electronic display to provide market quotes, financial news and advertisements.

How to reach the Condé Nast Building

Take the 7, N, Q, R, S or W train to the Times Square / 42nd Street subway station. The Condé Nast Building is just across the street on the east side of Broadway between 42nd and 43rd Streets.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.

To get to know me better, do follow me on Facebook!
