The New York Yacht Club is one of the most distinguished yacht clubs in the world. It was founded in 1844, and is located at 37 West 44th Street, in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.
Since its founding the club has had its clubhouse in various places starting with Hoboken, New Jersey. From there, it have relocated to Staten Island, Glen Cove and Mystic, Connecticut, before it moved to its present location. The club is now officially based in New York City and Newport, Rhode Island.

The six-storey Beaux-Arts building has a nautical theme to its design. It was designed by Warren and Wetmore in 1899, the architects that designed Grand Central Terminal, and completed in 1901. It was recognised as a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
The New York Yacht Club is the birthplace of the Americas Cup yacht race. Among the famous members of the New York Yacht Club includees Ted Kennedy Jr, Ted Turner, Harold Stirling Vandebilt and New York City mayor, Michael Bloomberg.
How to reach the New York Yacht Club
Take the B, D, F or V train to the 42nd Street / Bryant Park subway station. Walk north along Sixth Avenue (a.k.a. Avenue of the Americas) until intersection with West 44th Street. Turn right and walk east along West 44th Street, pass Algonquin Hotel to your left, before reaching the New York Yacht Club on the right, just before Sofitel.
