The
Upper West Side is a neighborhood of Manhattan facing the Hudson River. It developed in the 1870's following the extension of the Ninth Avenue Elevated Railroad there, making easy commute to Midtown possible. Many of the original brownstone row houses built in the 1890's can still be seen there today.
Upper West Side is home to a number of famous institutions, among them the American Museum of Natural History, the Columbus Circle Complex and Lincoln Center.
