Saint Cloud is the most populous city in central Minnesota. The county seat of Stearns County, it covers 30.9 sq mi (80.1 sq km) and has a population of 66,000 people (2011 estimate). The city was named after the city of Saint-Cloud near Paris, France. Saint Cloud, Minnesota, is located some 65 miles (105 km) from Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

Located on the Mississippi River, Saint Cloud is one of the fastest growing cities in Minnesota. Its metropolitan area is presently the third most populous in the state behind Minneapolis-Saint Paul and Duluth-Superior, and slightly ahead of the Rochester metropolitan area.

Originally the homeland of the Winnebago tribe of Native Americans, the Saint Cloud area began receiving European settlers after the treaty with the Indians in 1851. It began as a waystation for the wagon trail between Canada and Saint Paul.

Saint Cloud experiences a humid continental climate. Summers here are warm while winters extremely cold. July temperatures rise to 81.7°F (27.6°C) while January temperatures plunge as low as -1.2°F (-18.44°C). June gets the most rain, totalling 4.51 in (114.6 mm).

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
