Santa Ana is a city in Orange County, California. It is the county seat and most populous city in that county. As of 2011, Santa Ana has an estimated population of 341,000. It is within the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana metropolitan area.
Santa Ana is on a flat, low-lying plain. It was founded in 1769 by Gaspar de Portolá who led an expedition from Mexico City. The settlement was named Vallejo de Santa Ana by Friar Junípero Serra.
Santa Ana became part of the United States following the Mexican-American war of 1848. The city was incorporated in 1886 with a population of 2000. The city benefited from the construction of the Pacific Electric Railway which linked it to Los Angeles, helping its population to grow.
To check urban decay, the city of Santa Ana began revitalizing its downtown area since the 1980's. The Grand Central Art Center was created to attract artists and young professionals to live in the downtown area.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
