Ciudad Bolívar is a city in the state of Bolívar in eastern Venezuela. It covers 591 sq km (228.2 sq mi) and has a population of 351,000 people (2011 estimate). The city is located at a point in the Orinoco River where it narrows to about a mile across. This makes it an ideal spot for building a bridge across the river and the city emerged from the resulting trade.
The history of Ciudad Bolívar goes back to its founding in 1595, when it was originally named Santo Tomé de Guayana de Angostura del Orinoco, meaning "St Thomas of Guiana at the narrows of the Orinoco". The name was later shortened to Angostura in 1764, and remained so until 1846, when it was given its present name.
Located in the lowlands, at just 43 m above sea level, Ciudad Bolívar experiences a subtropical rainforest climate with temperatures that are fairly constant throughout the year, hovering between 26 and 30°C. Humidity is high and the annual rainfall totals about 1022 mm.
Ciudad Bolívar is the main city for the predominantly agricultural state of Bolívar. Among the crops grown in the region include maize, cassave, mango, yam and watermelon. Other activities include animal husbandry, including the raising of cattle and pig.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
