Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Aalayam Batu Kawan (29 June 2016)
Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Aalayam (GPS: 5.26673, 100.41842), (Tamil: அருள்மிகு பாலதண்டாயுதபாணி ஆலயம்) is a major Hindu temple in
Batu Kawan, Seberang Perai. It is also called the
Batu Kawan Hilltop Murugan Temple or Arulmigu Balathandahythapani Devasthanam Batu Kawan. Built at a cost of RM1.8mil on a 0.65 hectare plot, the temple held a maha kumbhabishegam, or consecration ceremony, on 19 February, 2016.
The main portion of the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Aalayam comprises a mandapa, or pillared pavilion surrounding the vimana, or inner sanctuary. For most visitors, the highlight of a visit here is the man-made lotus lake with a pillared shrine in the centre. There is a path around the lake for visitors and devotees to circumambulate. This path is lined with various statues of Hindu deities at various sections. On the opposing side of the lake from the temple is an enclosure for the temple's peacocks.
