World Heritage Sites in Cyprus

Cyprus ratified the World Heritage Convention on 14 August, 1975. As of August 2010, it has three World Heritage Sites, all in the cultural category. Cyprus also has another 12 sites on the World Heritage Tentative List. Cyprus has served on the World Heritage Committee twice, in 1980-1987 and 1991-1997.

On the other side of the border, there are presently no World Heritage Sites in Northern Cyprus. Nevertheless there are a good number of historic sites, among them the magnificent St Hilarion Castle and Kyrenia Castle.
