National Library of Malaysia (GPS: 3.1706, 101.71106), or Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia, is the main library of the country. It is located on a 2.2-hectare site on Jalan Tun Razak. The building is designed in the shape of a tengkolok, a Malay traditional head gear. The building was completed in 1992.
The National Library traces its history back to 1956, when the Malayan Library Group initiated its founding through a memorandum proposing its formation. The library received a boost from the Lee Foundation which donated RM500,000 in 1962. The National Library was eventually set up in 1966.
The National Library of Malaysia has a three-prong objective: to make available for the use of present and future generation a national collection of library resources; to facilitate nation-wide access to library resources available within the country and abroad ; and to provide leadership on matters pertaining to libraries. To the public, the library provides services such as referencing, lending, researching and photocopying, among others. For publishers, the library provide the application of ISSN for their titles, cataloging of their publications, and ISBN application.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
