The neighbourhood, with a postcode of 10150, was developed on reclaimed land that was created along with the construction of the expressway. The neighbourhood has a mix development that includes lower-medium cost high-rise apartments, medium-cost apartments, upper-medium cost apartments, and upmarket landed residential properties.

18 April, 2014: Following the sudden demise of Malaysian lawyer and politician Karpal Singh, the seaside promenade at Bandar Sri Pinang was renamed Karpal Singh Drive. The roads beside the promenade, namely Lebuh Sungai Pinang 4 and Lebuh Sungai Pinang 5, were also renamed Persiaran Karpal Singh 1 and Persiaran Karpal Singh 2 respectively.
