Bangkok Tomyam, on Jalan Mahkamah in Bayan Lepas, Penang (17 January 2014)
Bangkok Tomyam (GPS: 5.29769, 100.26379) is a Malay-operated Thai restaurant in Bayan Lepas, Penang. It occupies a spacious, open-air pavillion along
Jalan Mahkamah, a short distance from the
Penang International Airpor.
Bangkok Tomyam offers a wide range of popular Thai dishes. My wife has been here earlier than me, so yesterday, unable to decide what we want to have for lunch, we decided to come here. As there were just the two of us, we were limited over how much we could order. So each of us ordered different types of fried rice - my wife the belacan fried rice while I chose the chicken paprik rice. In addition, we also ordered a small bowl of tomyam and stir-fried kangkung.

On the whole, the food is quite tasty. However, the taste is on the strong side, meaning strongly salty and spicy. And sweet too. The same goes for the drinks. I enjoyed my iced coffee, though I admit it is also sinfully sweet.
If you come as a group, Bangkok Tomyam has a selection of set meals, sparing you the trouble of ordering
à la carte.
