Batu Lanchang Autopont Bridge

Batu Lanchang Autopont Bridge (14 April 2009)

The Batu Lanchang Autopont Bridge is a viaduct in George Town, Penang. It provides an elevated access to Jalan Tan Sri Teh Ewe Lim for traffic coming from the south on Green Lane. The increase in traffic flow along Green Lane, which is one of the round roads serving George Town, has created daily congestions. Access to the Batu Lanchang area is hampered by the constant flow of southbound traffic along Green Lane.

The Batu Lanchang Autopont Bridge was built using French technology for areas of limited space. The name autopont is French for vehicular bridge (pont is bridge in French). As with the Hamilton Road Flyover nearby, its construction helped to ease traffic flow along Green Lane although the main road remain as congested as before.
