Bayu Bay Seafood is a seafood restaurant in Sungai Batu, Penang. It is located along Persiaran Sungai Batu and occupies the beach front. On the coast you can see the curved bay of Sungai Batu. Due to damaged caused by the 2004 tsunami, the coast is today protected by a wave breaker. Sungai Batu, the river, has its estuary closeby.

The signature dish at Bayu Bay Seafood is mee udang, so that was what we ordered. Other items available include charcoal fish steamboat, seafood porridge, seafood noodles and grilled seafood.

The mee udang looks good. The prawns are also quite big. But as soon as it reaches my mouth, I realised I like the mee udang at Ayu Mee Udang better. It's in the taste. I could be wrong, since I only tried it once, so I would urge you not to follow what I say, but visit Bayu Bay Seafood and try it yourself.

Getting there

If you're coming from Bayan Lepas, turn left at the junction to Sungai Batu, in front of Masjid Sungai Batu. Go all the way down Jalan Sungai Batu till the end, which is where it forms a junction with Persiaran Sungai Batu. Bayu Bay Seafood is right across the junction. If you come by bus, you have a long walk reaching it. The distance from the bus stop along Jalan Teluk Kumbar is app. 720 meters. Buses serving that stop are Rapid Penang bus 308, 401 and 401E.
